Publicly offered futures funds (normally
structured to provide limited liability and taxed
as a partnership, not as a corporation) must register
through the Securities and Exchange Commission. They
usually have lower minimum investment requirements
than individually managed accounts. They are usually
offered to the public for a limited period before
the fund is closed to new investors.
Public funds are appropriate for
qualified retail investors. Minimum investment requirements
typically begin at $25,000, but may be accessible
for $5,000 ($2,000 for IRAs) if approved by the commodity pool operator.
Futures Investment Company offers
access to several quality public futures funds, managed
by CTAs we believe to be premier in the industry with
proven track records.
